Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta Movie Expected in 2015

A film based on the famous crime solving literary character Kay Scarpetta, is a step closer following a publishing deal with Harper Collins.

Kay Scarpetta, a forensic pathologist and Chief Medical Examiner first appeared in the 1990 book “Post Mortem” by best-selling author Patricia Cornwell.

“Post Mortem” was to become the first in the Scarpetta series with a new book appearing on the shelves almost every year since. Kay Scarpetta has applied her forensic skills and razor sharp diagnostic and investigative abilities over the last 23 years, earning a reputation as one of the favourite protagonists in Crime Fiction.

Books in the Scarpetta Series have exceeded 100 million copies worldwide.

The name of the 21st novel in the Scarpetta series is “Dust” due to be published in November by Penguin. It will be her last book with the publisher Penguin.

Patricia Cornwell has been with the publishing house Peguin for 18 years and is the first major writer to leave the company since itS merger with Random House in 2012.

Cornwell moved to publisher William Morrow, part of the HarperCollins Publishing group having accepted a two book publising deal reportedly worth more than $10 million.

The Kay Scarpetta Movie is being produced by Fox 2000 who optioned the rights in 1990.
